Revised Pay Offer Ballot
UNISON are balloting all local government members from Monday 19th August regarding the revised pay offer. This will be an electronic consultative ballot asking you to say whether you accept or reject the revised pay offer with a recommendation from UNISON to reject. This is a separate ballot from the postal statutory ballot that has gone to all members in schools and early years. Members in schools and early years should still complete and send back the postal ballot if you haven’t already done so.
The full offer has been circulated previously and can be found on both the branch and UNISON Scotland websites. The offer is a flat rate increase of £1292 or 3.6% whichever is the greater. I am aware that flat rate increases can be difficult to understand since the £1292 is based on an employee working 37 hours over 52 weeks, so members who are part-time, term-time or both will have the flat rate amount calculated on a pro-rata basis. I thought it would help to convert the flat rate into a percentage uplift as the percentage increases below apply regardless of hours worked.
- Grade 1 – an increase of 5.58%
- Grade 2 – an increase of 5.32%
- Grade 3 – an increase of 5.12%
- Grade 4 – an increase of 4.57%
- Grade 5 – an increase of 4.09%
- Grade 6 (3rd point) – an increase of 3.7%
- Grade 6 (top point) – this where the flat rate and percentage increase converge. 3.6%
- Grade 7 and upwards – 3.6%
With the exception of Grade 1 which is a single spinal point, I have calculated the percentage conversion at the top point for each grade. If you are on a spinal column point which is below the top then the percentage increase will be marginally higher.
