UNISON to Ballot all Council staff
UNISON Scotland’s local government committee has decided to run an official postal strike ballot for ALL council staff. The decision was taken after the local government committee met to consider the result of our ALL local government members email consultative ballot. Thousands of you voted overwhelmingly (86%) to reject Cosla’s latest pay offer, with over 50% of you voting in this consultative ballot. To be legally allowed to strike unions have to ballot their members by post. |
What happens next? |
Until now strike ballots have been confined to refuse workers, and staff working in schools and early years with many backing strike action. The committee will now ask all council workers it represents in Scotland if they are willing to strike over pay. It will take several weeks to set a firm timetable, and we will be in touch with more information for you soon. In the meantime, we will continue to engage with COSLA and the Scottish Government to try and secure an improved offer. |
