Teaching Support Staff Receive Training

Calum McLellan, the Branch’s Lifelong Learning Officer writes  :

In partnership with Inverclyde Council the branch arranged for two training sessions to be delivered at the Port Glasgow Campus on 24th October 2016 for teaching support staff.  The two topics were:

  • Autism Awareness
  • Promoting Positive Behaviour

The training was facilitated by Dr Carrie Ballantyne and the training was fully funded by UNISON.

The training was organised via the following process:

  • Staff raised the concern to the branch.
  • The branch contacted the Local authority in order to provide a joined up approach.
  • The branch surveyed the members
  • The training was then organised and delivered.

This is an excellent example of an employer and UNISON working together in order to reach a mutually agreed outcome. Whether you are looking for training as a UNISON representative or are keen to learn for personal development, we can help. UNISON offer a variety of training including online learning, please see the link below.
