Local Government Pay Update

Branch Secretary Robin Taggart gives an update on the Pay Ballot for Council members

“Our members in schools and early years establishments have voted overwhelmingly to take strike action as part of our pay campaign. 95% of members balloted in Inverclyde voted to take industrial action. Inverclyde branch also recorded a ballot return which was above the 50% legal threshold required. This is a fantastic outcome for all council members in the branch and I want to thank all of our members in schools and early years establishments for delivering this result.

Unless CoSLA table a significantly improved pay offer to the derisory 2% current offer, then over 700 of our branch members will be taking industrial action later next month. GMB and Unite members also voted to take strike action and the three trade unions are meeting today. I will keep you updated on developments including any changes in the employer’s position.”
