Revised Council Pay Offer – Branch Position
Dear Colleague
Revised Pay Offer – Inverclyde Branch Position
The latest national pay offer from CoSLA is a significant change from the previous four offers and was secured by many UNISON members taking, or being prepared to take, strike action. It would put much needed cash into our members pockets on a permanent basis, with the lowest paid seeing the highest percentage rises at just under 11%. The rest of the membership will see uplifts of between 10% and 5% based on the flat cash payments on offer.
However the offer remains below the current and anticipated inflation rates that we will experience in the coming period and short of the joint trade union pay claim.
UNISON’s local government committee agreed to suspend the strike action planned for this week and recommend that members accept the revised offer.
UNISON will be launching a consultative ballot shortly and members must now decide whether they wish to accept the offer. Please take time to consider the offer and assess the best way forward at this time. We will be providing further details shortly on how the offer affects members in Inverclyde
On balance, taking all the factors into consideration, UNISON Inverclyde branch recommends rejection of the offer.
Whatever the outcome of the consultation exercise the fight on pay cannot end with this offer or this year. The cost of living crisis is not going away.
