Local Government Pay Claim 2023/24

Following a meeting of COSLA Leaders on Friday 31st March we received a pay offer late yesterday afternoon.
 
Your local government committee met immediately to consider this offer and have agreed to consult members on it with a recommendation to reject.  This consultation will start this week and conclude before the next scheduled meeting of COSLA Leaders on 28th April.  Full details of the consultation with supporting FAQs, graphics etc will follow.

In summary the offer is:

Effective from 1 April 2023

  • A 5% uplift on all Spinal Column Points (SCP)

Effective from 1st January 2024

  • An additional £0.45 on SCP2 to SCP18 (Inverclyde Council Grade 1) and the underpinning Scottish Local Government Living Wage rate. This will raise the SLGLW by £0.99 over the course of the financial year.
  • An additional 2.5% on SCP19 to SCP43 (Inverclyde Council Grades 2 to the 2ndpoint on Grade 5), with smoothing consisting of slightly higher uplifts applied to SCP19, 20, and 21.
  • An additional 1.5% up on SCP44 to SCP64 (Inverclyde Council Grades 5 – 3rdpoint – to Grade 7)
  • An additional 1% on SCP 65 and above (Inverclyde council Grades 8 and above)
